*Bladnoch 11yr Bottled by Gordon and MacPhail in 1997 40% ABV
     -smelled floral sweet with a touch of cinnamon and caramel
     -tasted strong oak, sweet with some vanilla wafer
     -with water smelled plum wine and caramel
     -tasted peppery oak
     -trailed slight sweet vanilla quickly!
     Water does not ruin this but does dull the sweetness.

     Our April meeting at the Castle Hull (Graham) included a few special treats. There was a Scotch Malt Whisky Society and a 21 yr Springbank (thank you Myra!). We enjoyed some delicious food as well. 

*Scotch Malt Whisky Society  53.200 "A Day at the Beach"  59% ABV
     -smelled like leather with cinnamon
     -tasted slight peat with a tinge of citrus
     -trailed sweet wood and tar
     -with water smelled sweet oak and cinnamon
     -tasted bitter peat smoke
     -turned peppery after a few minutes
     A few drops of water opened this up. Too much and it all goes to bitter. 

*Bunnahabhain Ceobanach   46.3% ABV
     -smelled a tinge of spoiled fruit/sweet, with slight cherry
     -tasted leathery oak with smoke at the end
     -with water smelled very light, sweet fruit
     -tasted peppery oak and no sweetness
     -trailed bitter oak
     Smelled a lot better than it tasted! Water got rid of the sweetness. 

*Springbank 21yr   46% ABV
     -smelled sweet sherry/paxarette/fruit
     -smelled almost cherries with hints of vanilla and cough syrup
     -tasted sour cabernet/wood
     -with water smelled cherry dessert, butterscotch
     -tasted cookie dough and pepper
     -trailed fruits and wood
     Water does not ruin this! Incredible taste. Pre '80s bottling. 
     I let it sit for 15 minutes with water in it. It smelled very floral with sweet dessert in the background and trailed oaky.
