On this, the 31st day of December 2009 the Iron Mountain Whisky Club did have its official beginning. The first actual gathering did happen on Dec. 5th (with all three charter members in attendance), but none of the following (as in bylaws) had as of yet been drawn up and no official business took place. I.M.W.C. has it’s origins from Iron Mountain, the highest point in the state of Florida, near Lake Wales, and Invictus maneo, the family motto of Clan Armstrong, which means “I remain unvanquished” which applies to all three charter members as we are all cyclists. We had our first meeting on the 23rd of Jan., 2010. The future president had a few bottles of whisky and after the other two charter members saw said collection a suggestion was made that possibly a whisky night should be had. The rest was, as they say, history (rather short, but history nonetheless). We endeavor to spread the enjoyment of all whisky (notice the spelling) and all things Scottish (yes, even haggis!). So, raise your glass to the Bard, "O thou, my Muse! guid auld Scotch drink! Whether thro' wimplin worms thou jink Or, richly brown, ream owre the brink In glorious faem Inspire me, till I lisp an' wink To sing thy name! 1785-86
